"Lillian and Madison were unlikely, yet inseparable friends at their boarding school. Then Lillian had to leave the school unexpectedly in the wake of a scandal, and they have barely spoken since. Years later, Lillian gets a letter from Madison pleading for her help. Madison's twin stepkids are moving in, and she wants Lillian to be their caretaker. However, there's a catch: the twins spontaneously combust when they get agitated. Lillian is convinced Madison is pulling her leg, but it's the truth. Thinking of the life that has consistently disappointed her, Lillian figures she has nothing to lose. Over the course of one demanding summer, Lillian and the twins learn to trust each other while also staying out of the way of Madison's uptight husband. Surprised by her intense feelings of protectiveness she feels for them, Lillian ultimately begins to accept that she needs these strange children as much as they need her. Could this be the start of the amazing life she'd always hoped for?"-- Provided by publisher.

Plenty to See Here! submitted by abednar on February 3, 2020, 11:37am No spoilers!

This book is funny, heart breaking, uplifting and satisfying. The story of the fire children is original and well written. I kept wanting to read more, and I was sad at the end because it there weren't more pages to read. It shows two children looking for love and acceptance as well as the dirty side of politics and wealth.

Darkly Comic submitted by jillian on June 14, 2020, 9:42pm Equal parts funny and moving, this is a satisfying story of a found family.

Unexpected submitted by Zekicmom on June 26, 2020, 8:55pm Hard to put down book, which I very much enjoyed. I was sorry to say goodbye to the characters when it was over.

Quick read, good character voice submitted by mowjac on July 1, 2020, 8:11pm I picked this up because during lockdown I had nothing to read and a friend loaned this to me. I found the character's voice very individual and believable and raced through this. I read it for the character and voice and found it very compelling and compassionate, and a bit off beat.

fun and quirky - audio version is good, too submitted by 21621031390949 on July 15, 2020, 9:21pm Very clever book - funny, creative, moving, and quirky. I listened to the recorded version and it was read well.

Quirky and Fun submitted by elmreads on July 25, 2020, 9:46am I had no idea what to expect from this book, but I really enjoyed it. It is a quirky story, very entertaining, and a quick read. Great vacation book!

The Perfect Book submitted by emjane on June 14, 2021, 9:56pm Relatable protagonist, quirky premise, and a tightly told. Kevin Wilson is a fabulous writer, and this is my favorite of his yet!

Didn’t care for it submitted by dpisonicook on June 13, 2023, 11:24pm Not sure what to make of this book. It was mildly entertaining but kind of strange.
