Dyed-in-the-Wool 90s Alt Rock submitted by Meginator on August 20, 2021, 8:04pm This is a classic 90s alt-rock album, from its scruffy production value to the particular filters used on the guitars. This album includes the band’s two signature singles, “Walk on the Ocean” and “All I Want”, which exemplify the respective edges of their emotional range. After listening to this, I was shocked to see that it was recorded as early as 1991; in that context, it feels like a real trailblazer, a sign of musical evolution at its bleeding edge (for the time, anyway, just before grunge changed everything). Though the vibe is dated today and definitely a product of its time, the songs hold up remarkably well and the band has excellent range, making this essential listening for anyone who fondly remembers this era in music.
