Absolutely charming submitted by Helengio on June 10, 2023, 5:25pm This is a wonderful middle grade novel including such incredibly important themes of gender identity, sport, friendship, and loss (with plenty of humor). I loved it and hope the main character succeeds at everything they do. You go, Mars!
Mars Rocks! submitted by shbook on June 14, 2023, 10:56am An amazing middle grade novel by a local author that manages to be full of both struggle and joy! Confident, powerful figure skater Mars can't help but be frustrated that competitions in the sport she loves are divided into boys and girls, and they're not sure they fit in either category. And Mars is also trying to figure out their place in the skating world now that their father, their lifelong cheerleader, has passed away. What stands out is the joy and power that Mars feels when skating, and the way that they challenge the norms of a sport they love. A cool relationship with their big sister is a bonus!
You’ll love Mars! submitted by lo_mc on July 27, 2024, 10:03am Beautiful middle grade novel and coming of age story. This is a great read for kids and parents alike. Bonus: the author is local to Ann Arbor!
