Follows the life of Howard Hughes as the twentysomething millionaire, having already made a fortune improving the design of oil-drilling bits, who comes to Hollywood with an interest in getting into the picture business. It doesn't take long for Hughes to jump from producer to director of his first major film project, a World War I air epic. The film was a massive hit, and the eccentric inventor became a mogul in Hollywood, making Jean Harlow a star and enjoying a romance with Katharine Hepburn. But Hollywood's old-boy network never fully accepted Hughes, and in time his passion for flying began to reclaim his attentions. In time he began designing new planes, setting air speed records, flying around the world, and risking his life testing aircraft. Hughes also found time to romance Ava Gardner and founded his own airline, Trans-World Airlines. As his ideas became bolder and more eccentric, he gained many powerful enemies.
DVD, region 1, widescreen (2.40:1) presentation; Dolby Digital 5.1 surround, Dolby Digital 2.0 surround, stereo.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

I'd? submitted by lekendrick on August 1, 2011, 9:30pm actually liked this one as a character study historical figure, Leo is one of our eldest child stars attempting not be particularly bad @ adulthood, & it's perhaps ease w/ which DiCaprio carries the multiple talented Hughes along w/ realistic understanding the man an psychosis to point? Simply carried! Ever evolving & it's only as if this will actually limp across the line not be seized! It's the ever indulgent nature, but enough the period is quite rich for material! Besides being well documented! It's not every bio-pic special feature throw in include history channel episode on subject!

Interesting submitted by fluting4ever on August 4, 2011, 1:14am Leo is good at acting
