Ferocious pirate Captain Firebeard THINKS that he and the ruthless crew of the "Horrible Haddock" rule the high seas. But Firebeard and his band meet their match when they kidnap a small but feisty girl named Molly. Even after the pirates threaten Molly with sharks and make her scrub the deck, she is utterly defiant -- and will NOT tell Firebeard who her parents are. All the while, Molly is busy sending secret messages in bottles...but to whom? When her rescuers arrive, the pirates are in for a real surprise! For the TRUE fiercest pirate on the seas is none other than Molly's mother!

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Pirate Girl submitted by camelsamba on August 3, 2011, 11:27am For awhile, this was my 6yo son's favorite book. He says it's because he likes pirates. I like how Molly tricks those pirates and gets the upper hand.

cute book about a strong girl character submitted by Sylwia on July 19, 2013, 8:08pm My 2.5 year old daughter read this book every day for quite some time and made pirates less scary to her. A little girl goes off to visit her grandma on a boat when she is captured by pirates. She tricks them and is freed. nice illustrations as well

Unexpected Twist submitted by Meginator on July 8, 2017, 10:48pm I should have seen this twist coming; remarkably, I didn't! This is a fun book about a girl who is kidnapped by pirates, only to outwit them and secure her freedom. The illustrations are generally cartoonish but do feature many intimidating pirate types; the views of the whole ship are excellent. "Pirate Girl" is more of a fun story than a message book, but it does include some nice subtext and features a strong female character who all readers will admire and, hopefully, can relate to.
