Videodisc recording of a motion picture originally released in 2005.
Julia Jentsch, Fabian Hinrichs.
"The film depicts the last six days (February 17-22, 1943) in the life of Sophie Scholl from her own perspective: that of a courageous and vibrant young woman who is willing to face death for her belief in her ideals and those of the White Rose, an underground resistance movement to which she belongs. Through their resistance and protest against the Nazi regime, Sophie and her fellow members of the White Rose become synonymous with civil courage and a peaceful struggle against the rule of violence and oppression."--Container.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Sophie Is My Newest Hero submitted by David Marshall on August 23, 2012, 2:39pm I read about Sophie Scholl one day in 2012 and was shocked that I'd never heard her story. This film is riveting and moving. It begins with Sophie and her brother's choice to disseminate their article and dives straight into her interrogation, imprisonment, and trial. Her resolve and faith were heroic, and I hope more people with watch this film and tell her story. It deserves every award it has received.

So far, not so good. submitted by Tassos on February 19, 2023, 5:12pm I started with what it said on the DVD was the main feature, but instead it was the supplement disk, where no english subtitles were offered. I then went to the side where the movie was, and after a couple of tries, I managed to show the subtitles. However, the initial scenes have not impressed me. Non-charismatic actors, slow script. Hope it gets better. Now that I see the scene with the leaflets in the attache case, I think I have seen this many years ago.

The movie is disappointing in its blatant disregard of the exact historical truth. The defendants were NOT allowed to make these wonderful speeches during their trial. The damned movie looks like a soap opera, with the damned violins of the music score being very intrusive and annoying.

The second side of the dvd, with the interviews, is MUCH better, especially if you care for the HISTORICAL TRUTH.
