COMMUNITY REVIEWS
Good Information, Weird Advice submitted by Meginator on August 16, 2019, 6:15pm As promised, this book delivers an accessible crash course in home ownership, with broad overviews of electric systems, plumbing, and construction that are aimed squarely at beginners without being condescending. However, the book has a strange focus on home improvement and monetary value; I understand that first-time homeowners may not necessarily be thinking ahead to selling their new house, but Davis assumes an interest in creating profit that is misplaced here. The explanations seem sound, and many of the charts are worth keeping around, but the advice often feels slightly off for this target audience. This is worth skimming through, if for no other reason than to get some pointers for a more thorough personal post-purchase inspection, but it isn’t comprehensive enough to be essential.
