Ann Arbor Artist. Helen Gotlib studied printmaking and scientific illustration while earning her BFA at the University of Michigan. Still based in Ann Arbor, Gotlib works from live models and still life to evoke the expressiveness of botanical and human structure. Her pieces make use of colored pencil, lithography, intaglio, and woodblock prints.

I also like how the more alive a dahlia is, the more color it has, an interesting way of representing an organism is close to its death. Also, the dull color scheme gives the piece a rustic and vintage feel.
