Downtown Library Closed until 8/14

by aadl-news

Due a positive COVID-19 test of a Downtown Library staff member, the Downtown Library will be closed for two weeks for staff quarantine starting Friday 7/31. Pickup appointments will not be available during this closure.

Any items waiting for pickup, or for a pickup to be scheduled, will stay right where they are and will be available when services resume in mid-August. We are sorry, but we will not be able to relocate any of these items to other locations for pickup. The Downtown outdoor drop slot will remain open. All other library locations remain open for contactless pickup appointments.

Due to our contactless pickup and handling procedures, and based on direction from the County Health Department, there is no exposure risk to patrons who picked up items at the Downtown library.

If the Downtown Library is your polling place, it will be open for voting only on Election Day on Tuesday 8/4.

Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns, and thank you for your patience through this service interruption. Take good care.

Thanks for your caution and the excellent, concise notice above. In three short paragraphs, we know what's happened, what to expect, and when.
All our best wishes to the staffer who's ill.

Be well. Taking care of yourself is also taking care of the community. Thank you
Wendy

Thank you for the update. Wishing everyone at Downtown A2 branch healing during this time. For books with upcoming due dates before 8/13, will the due dates be extended similar to the COVID period? Thank you for clarifying.

Thanks for asking, we don't plan to adjust due dates for this closure. All outdoor drop boxes at all locations remain open and you're welcome to return AADL items to any of them. We're also not charging overdue fees currently, so please just return your items to any location at your convenience.

Thank you for the update, and best wishes to the affected people. Thank you for exercising caution.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope the staff member isn't too adversely affected, and the rest of the staff do not contract the virus.

I AM EXTREMELY SORRY TO HEAR THIS. WISHING FOR ALL THE BEST FOR THIS STAFF MEMBER AND FOR ALL OF YOU. GOD BLESS ALL.....ANOP CHAND TATIA.

Thank you for a great library. And a great library through this pandemic. Thank you to all the librarians keeping the library going at this time. Please stay safe.

Thank you for the clear and helpful information, for keeping the community and your staff safe, and all best wishes to the individual (let's hope the count stays at one!) who tested positive

Sending all my best wishes to the staff member who's ill and to all of you. You're the best part of this town. Please take care!

Best Wishes to all of you as you cope with yet another glitch.
Good communication helps so much - oh. that our federal govt. would take a few lessons from you all.
Thank you!

I heartily echo everyone's sentiments for a return to health soon for the staff member, and for the safety of everyone else. The AADL system is outstanding, in its organization, quality of holdings, innovation and environmental standards in its buildings, and community outreach. A true treasure.
Thank you
Pat

Hear, hear! Echoing Pat's comment and grateful AADL has found its usual excellence in "moving forward" and "together," even in a pandemic. Good healing for the staff member and their close ones.

Thank you for this notification. We are so sorry to hear this news, and wish the staff well!!
I know you said above that, "Due to our contactless pickup and handling procedures, and based on direction from the County Health Department, there is no exposure risk to patrons who picked up items at the Downtown library."
Could you please let us know if those of us who came to the Josie code "event" on Wed (outside) should consider quarantining, or confirm that the Health Dept would also consider us "no exposure risk." Thank you.

Thank you for asking. I have had no direct contact with the staff person ill with COVID and I am not being quarantined. We observed distancing, wore our masks, and were outdoors on Wednesday.

Josie

Thanks for your prompt response and forthrightness! Please know how much we appreciate all of of the thought and carefulness that is going into making our library work for our community through this!

You guys have been amazing through all of this! Best wishes to the staff member who is ill, and to any other staff who are frightened right now due to any exposure they had to that person.

Thank you for keeping our safety and the safety of your staff in mine and quick question how do I do pick up service once it resumes I can’t seem to find the link
