Abolitionism In The Genesee Conference Of The M. E. Church
At a meeting of the mernbers and minieters of the Genesse Conference, atPalrnyra, JunelS, an Anti-Slavery Society was formeel and the following reaolutions were passed: Resolved, That the recent attitude assutned by a large porlion of the M. E. Church in relution to slavery, makes itj ncumbent on every consistent aboliiionst in said Church to bear hisdecided, unequivocal testimony against ibis greal ibomination.That Moihodism and abolitionisrn are legitimately conjoined; and that the docrines, government aod institutions of the l. E. Chnrcb, truly and ecjuitably administered, are exactly in accordance with ihe principies of the anti-slavery a use. That the elective franchise is not only ie most effectiva medium through which o effect the extirpation of slavery over ïose öections of our country where we xerciso the legal jurisdiction, hut is constent and comports with moral suasion.
