Mrs. C. C. Lamberton
Former Resident of Chelsea Dies In Detroit
CHELSEA - Mrs. Eleanor Armstrong Dancer Lamberton, 47, of Detroit, formerly of Chelsea, died Friday morning at Detroit Receiving Hospital of a cerebral hemorrhage.
She was stricken Thursday night while attending the theater.
Since January, 1947, she had been the librarian at the Detroit Juvenile Detention Home.
Mrs. Lamberton was born Oct. 15, 1902, in Chelsea, the daughter of Ernest and Effie Armstron Dancer. She was graduated from Chelsea High School and received her teacher's certificate from Michigan State Normal College. She received her bachelor of arts degree from the University in 1935.
She taught at Jewett Stone School and Lima Center School in Washtenaw County, the Battle Creek schools and the Jackson schools.
Mrs. Lamberton studied library science at Michigan State Normal College in 1946, and in 1947 became librarian at the Detroit Juvenile Detention Home.
Her husband, Charles C. Lamberton, whom she married March 13, 1924, in Battle Creek, died in 1930. They had one daughter, Eleanor Ann.
Mrs. Lamberton was a member of the Congregational Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Detroit Woman's City Club, American Association of University Women, Phi Beta Kappa scholastic honorary society, and the Chelsea American Legion Auxiliary.
In addition to her daughter, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. C. L. Trafford of Grand Rapids and Mrs. R. C. McLaughlin of Chelsea.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Monday at the Staffan Funeral Home in Chelsea. Rev. W. H. Skentelbury of the Chelsea Congregational Church and Rev. Malrory Fitzpatrick of Mt. Hope Congregational Church in Detroit will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
