Hafner Services
CHELSEA - Funeral services for William J. Hafner, 59, of 661 W. Middle St., who died suddenly yesterday at his home following a heart attack, are scheduled for Friday morning.
Mr. Hafner, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society of the church, was a lifelong resident of the Chelsea area.
For the past 14 years he had been employed as a grinder and polisher at the Federal Screw Works here.
He was born March 19, 1891 on the Hafner farm in Sylvan township, the youngest of five children of Conrad and Genevieve Koch Hafner.
He married Mary Honeck on Nov. 6, 1928, in Chelsea.
Survivors, besides his wife, include six daughters, Genevieve, Mary Ann, Josephine, Norma, Barbara Lou, and Gloria; and five sons, Charles, Leonard, Laverne, Leo, and Dennis, all at home.
Also surviving are two brothers, Joseph P. and George Hafner, both of Chelsea; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Myers of Battle Creek and Mrs. Joseph Dreyer of Chelsea, and several nieces and nephews.
The rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock tomorrow night in Mr. Hafner's residence.
Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Friday morning at St. Mary's Catholic Church here, with Rev. Fr. Lee Laige reading the mass. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hafner residence.
