The following rcsolulions wereadoptd al a meeting of Abolitionists at Climax rairie, Kalamazoo county, Oct.2ü. Resolved, That the resolutiop. of the [ouse of Represenlatives, laying all petions, memorials &.c, relating in any 'ay to the subject of slavery upon the ta)le, without bcing read, referred or prined,is an assumption of power and authory at varience with the spirit of the Contitution of the United Stateí, and a virual denial of the right of petition. Resolved, That slavery and the slaverade as it exiats in the District of Colunr )ia, brings our boasted love of berty and equal rights, into contempt, oes violence to the inherent princiciples f man! - tends essentially to impair thoso undamental principies of natural justico nd natural law, which are antecedent lo ny written Constitutions of Government, ndependent of them all, and vitally esential, to the eecurity of frecdom to this Government. Resolved, That Congress, having exlusive Legislative Jurisdiction in the Disrict of Columbia, possesses the Constituional right toabolish slavery in said Dis. riet, and ought to exercise that right inu mediatelyand unconditionally.
