Long In Failing Health
CHELSEA - Fred A. Hudson, 61, Chelsea area farmer, died Friday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Blanchard of Plainfield, where he had been since May 15. He had previously been at the Colonial Manor Convalescent Home in Chelsea for nine weeks.
Mr. Hudson has been in failing health for the past three years.
He was born on the Hudson farm in Lyndon township Nov. 2, 1888, the second oldests of six children born to Herman and Ida Hopkins Hudson. Unmarried, he spent most of his life on a farm near North Lake, with the exception of three years during World War II when he took factory jobs in Chelsea.
Mr. Hudson attended the North Lake Methodist Church for many years.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Christ Fitzsimmons of North Lake; a brother, Ernest Hudson of Brooklyn, Mich.; two aunts, Mrs. Will Marshall and Mrs. George Hopkins of Stockbridge; an uncle, Frank Hopkins of Stockbridge; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Prayer services will be held at 1:30 Monday afternoon from the Miller Funeral Home here, followed by funeral services at 2:30 Monday afternoon from the North Lake Methodist Church, with Rev. Dalton M. Bishop officiating. Burial will be in North Lake Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
