Age 77, passed away Sunday, August 30, 1992 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital following a long illness. Mr. McLaughlin was born February 24, 1915 in Carthage, MS to parents Ira and George McLaughlin. On May 20, 1935, he was united in marriage to Venie McLaughlin. She preceded him in death on February 4, 1987. He became a member of Second Baptist Church in 1938 under the late Rev. C.W. Carpenter. Mr. McLaughlin had been a resident of Ann Arbor for more than 50 years. He was retired from the Ann Arbor school system. He was very active in the community, and coached one of the City's baseball teams for many years. He is survived by his brother, Herbert McLaughlin, and sister, Georgia Simon, both of Grand Rapids; a host of nieces and nephews; and two devoted sister-in-laws, Ruth McLaughlin of Detroit and Elsia McLaughlin of Chicago, IL. Funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, September 5 at the Second Baptist Church. Burial will follow at United Memorial Gardens. The family hour will be held at the MUEHLIG CHAPEL Friday evening 7-8 p.m.
