Dr. W. H. Dickson Dies At Home
Heart Attack Fatal To Former Coroner
Dr. William H. Dickson, sr., 73, of 719 Moore St., an Ann Arbor physician and former county coroner, died, apparently of a heart attack, at his home at 4:30 a.m. today.
Dr. Dickson, a Democrat, was elected to the office of coroner in November, 1948, holding that office for three two-year terms, ending in 1954.
A native of Monroe county, Dr. Dickson had lived in Ann Arbor since 1901. He was born at South Rockwood, Mich., on Sept. 18, 1882. He spent two years in the University Law School, later switching to medicine. He was graduated from the University Medical School in 1911and was in private practice here.
He was a member of the Elks and Masonic Lodges, a charter member of the University's chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and a member of the Dunbar Community Center.
Survivors are a son, William H., jr.,, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Myrtle L. Dickson, both of Ann Arbor; a nephew, William Woods of Detroit; and a niece, Mrs. Esther Marshall of Washington, D. C.
Funeral arrangements are being made by Lucille's Funeral Home in Ypsilanti.
