William P. Flynn, an Ann Arbor mason work contractor for the last 40 years, died yesterday afternoon at his home, 609 Hill St. He had been in failing health the past three years. He was 69 years old.
Mr. Flynn was born in Dexter, the son of John and Margaret Trahey Flynn, on June 9, 1873. He came with his parents to Ann Arbor when three years old and had lived here since.
A member of St. Thomas Catholic church, of the Holy Name Society of the church and of the Elks lodge here, Mr. Flynn had gained a wide acquaintance in Ann Arbor through his contracting work.
He was married to Fannie Freeman here on Nov. 26, 1901.
Survivors include the wife, two sons, Maj. Freeman Flynn. Washington, D. C., and William P. Flynn, jr., Ypsilanti; three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Hallock, Pontiac; Mrs. Mary Mercer, Ann Arbor, and Mrs. Lucille Ruff, Ypsilanti; a sister, Mrs. Jennie Newton, Jackson, and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Monday morning at St. Thomas church and burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Muehlig funeral chapel where the Rosary will be recited at 7 o'clock tomorrow night.
