John E. Laverty
John E. Laverty, 59, died suddenly Monday afternoon. His home was at 306 Thompson St.
He was born Feb. 8, 1905, in Curtis, Mich., a son of Frank H. and Mary E. Shultz Laverty, and graduated from Curtis High School.
Mr. Laverty was a resident of Ann Arbor for 40 years. He operated his own barbershop at 306 Thompson St. for the past 30 years.
He was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church and the Golden Rule Lodge 159, F&AM.
Mabel, his wife since April 6, 1933, survives him.
Also surviving are a son, John J. of Baltimore, Md.; three grandchildren; two brothers, Jake of Curtis, and Frank of Senilac, Sask., Canada; a sister, Mrs. Irene Anderson of Chicago, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday from St. Andrews Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Henry Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Muehlig Chapel.
Memorial services will be conducted by the officers and members of the Golden Rule Lodge at 8 p.m. today.
