j The Boston Morning Chronicle, after - giving an account oí the "Confidential ' Circular," which has excited such a sen-, 3 sation among the Democrats of N. York, ; makes the following suggestions to Dcm: ocrats. We tliink tliey are wortby oi' I candid consideraron. "Althouglï not invitcd to the Councils j . ofthose honest Democrats, who are surI prised at ñ'nding theïr leaders so ready I to sell them, and tbeir conscienccs, and I principies, to please to slavchoklers, we yet venture to commend to their consideration our article published July 13, "Birxey is th'e Max," as pointing out a I more excellent vay"than their projected joint letter. You cannot disconnect Polk and Texas, so as to vote honeslly for one without giving your influence to the other.I Vote for Birney. It is the only way to give your vote its true influence. In no I othor way can you eiiectually protest against tlie acts of your öWn party, vvhich f you disapprove, without ft.voring or even seeraing (o favor the measures of the opposite party, which you disapprove sfill more. In voting for Birney aiïd Morris ; you coinpromise no principie of your j tinctive politica] creed, because'no such principio is at issue - and you assent to no principie of the opposite party ' because none of these are involved. s You vote agninst Texas, without voting in favor of the bank. Indeed, a I Jrat voting for Birney will teil more J strongly against Clay and bank than i f he md voted for Polk, just as a Whig vote br Birney tells more against Polk and lTexas than if hc had voted for Clay.- Away, then, with the miserable idea'that Democrats should abandon the polls, and I leave the country to . mis rul e. We teil you therenever was such an unobjectionable opoortunity to exert the grealest amount of influence."
