Age 74, passed away Sunday, Sept. 23. 1979, in Saline Community Hospital. Born Feb. 2. 1905 in Danville, Mich., she was the daughter of Charles and Doris Sweeny Briggs. On Sept. 14, 1926 she married Alton Gehringer; he preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 1978. Mrs. Gehringer was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church, all of the women’s groups of the church, and The Christian Women’s Association of Mesa, Ariz. Survivors include: one son, Rex of Lompoc, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Ena) Olson of Saline; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy Gehringer of Manchester; 10 grandchildren; one great grandson; two sisters, Mrs. Maxine Hungate of Ann Arbor and Mrs. Myrtle Nichols of Pinckney. She was preceded in death by a son, Roy, on Jan. 12, 1978, an infant daughter, Rena Mae, in 1927, a brother and sister. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 26, 1979, at 1:30 p.m. at the Jenter Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Ferrifan officiating. Burial will be in Rowe Corner Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Sharon United Methodist Church. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.
