Lifelong Resident Of County Passes

John Schief, 83, who had lived at 4235 Pontiac Rd. for 25 years, died early this morning in a local hospital after a two weeks’ illness.
A lifelong Washtenaw county resident, he was born Feb. 9, 1871, in Freedom township, a son of Jacob and Fredaricca Zahn Schief, and had made his home in Nothfield township for 80 years. He did farm work.
Mr. Shief is survived by a brother, Jacob F. Schief, and a sister, Mrs. Louis Keppler, both of Ann Arbor. The Rev. Alfred Walther of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Northfield township will conduct services at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Muehlig Chapel. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
