Lindner, Roger D.

Ypsilanti Township, MI

Age 73, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2000 at Arbor Hospice Residence. He was born February 10, 1927 in Reed City, MI, the son of Charles and Marie (Pfuhl) Lindner. He graduated from Reed City High School in 1944 and then came to the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area. Roger worked as a carpenter/job supervisor for 35 years for DeKoning Construction Company and retired from Phoenix Contractors 12 years later. He had over 50 years in the Carpenter’s Local #512 Union. In 1963, he married Elaine N. Harris. He married Valerie Clarke O’Brien in 1992 and she preceded him in death January 5, 1998. Roger was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2250 and served for a number of years as their conductor. For a few years, he was also the organizer of the Eagles Men’s Horseshoe League. Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Lindner and Shelley (John) Clift; two sons, Randy (Darlene) and James (Bethany) Lindner; three step-daughters, Sue Williams, Debbie (Bruce) Hovatter, Kristen O’Brien; one stepson, John (Karen) O’Brien; several grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and three sisters, Vera Brown, Eleanor (Gene) Squires and June Weinrich. He was also preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Dorothy Owens; his grandson, Ryon Todd; a sister and a brother. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2000 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE, Moore Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mark Porinsky of Faith Lutheran Church, Dexter officiating. Burial will follow in Knollwood Memorial Park, next to Valerie. Contributions may be made to the MI Heart and Vascular Institute at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. Envelopes are available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Thursday and from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Friday.
