Age 65, died Saturday evening at the Bluffton Community Hospital, in Bluffton, Ohio. He was born in Wayne County, Mississippi on May 10, 1905 the son of W. Alex and Mattie Beard Davenport. His wife, Della M., preceded him in death in 1969. Survivors include: a son, James M. Davenport of 816 Patricia Ave. in Ann Arbor; two step-sons, Charles R. Merrell of Bluffton, Ohio and Fred H. Merrell of Birmingham, Alabama; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Betty) Walters of Rawson, Ohio; two sisters and five brothers; and 21 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Chiles & Sons - Layman Chapel of Memories, 1170 Shawnee Rd., Lima, Ohio. Burial will be made in Memorial Park Cemetery in Lima.
