YPSILANTI—John A. Burtis, 84, of 611 W. Michigan Ave., died this morning at St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor, after a two months’ illness.
A resident of Ypsilanti for more than 50 years, Mr. Burtis was born May 16, 1863, in Genessee county. He was married in 1916 to Bertha Johnston, who died in 1942.
Survivors are a son, Fred B. Burtis, of Chicago, and a stepson, Walter D. Wolfgang, of Chelsea. Also surviving are six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Burtis was a life member of Phoenix Lodge No. 13, F. & A. M., Ypsilanti.
Services will be conducted at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at the Stevens Bush Funeral Home by Rev. William R. Shaw. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
