Mrs. Shushan Vartanian Domboorajian, 80, of 616 Church St., widow of Rev. Mihran Domboorajian, died yesterday at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital after a brief illness.
Born Aug. 15, 1867, in the vilayet of Bitlis, in Armenia, Mrs. Domboorajian was educated at the Bitlis branch of Mount Holyoke, Seminary, from which she was graduated in 1886. She was married the next year to Rev. Mr. Domboorajian, whom she accompanied to Teheran, Iran, where he entered into his life work as a Christian missionary.
In 1913, with her children, Mrs. Domboorajian came to the United States, settling in Ann Arbor, where she was later joined by her husband. He died in 1939.
For more than 30 years a member of Ann Arbor's First Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Domboorajian was active in numerous religious and charitable organizations both in Ann Arbor and Detroit.
Surviving Mrs. Domboorajian are four daughters - Rucha, Mrs. David Reed, of Ann Arbor; Arsha-Luis, Mrs. Arthur Graether, of Detroit; Christina, Mrs. Reginald LaCourse, also of Detroit; and Lucy, Mrs. Roland Robinson, of Evanston, Ill.; three sons - Peter and Samuel, of New York City; and Haig, of Detroit; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Monday afternoon at the Muehlig Chapel, with Rev. William P. Lemon, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Washtenong Memorial Park.
