Home Repair and Energy Efficiency Programs

by Sunny29

Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley has a limited number of openings in two programs for qualified homeowners in Washtenaw County. Both programs serve owner-occupied, detached, single-family households up to 80% AMI (area median income). Mobile homes, condominiums and rentals are not eligible.

- Furnace Replacement Program:
Homeowners whose furnaces are 80% efficient or less may qualify for a new furnace. Following enrollment in the program, Habitat will have an approved HVAC contractor schedule an initial visit to verify that your furnace is eligible for replacement. At this time, the contractor will also inspect your water heater, take measurements and note any out-of-the-ordinary circumstances that might affect the replacement. If your furnace or water heater matches the replacement criteria, you’ll meet with a Habitat representative to provide documentation and complete paperwork for the replacement. Must have DTE for gas and electric. Please contact furnace@h4h.org with any questions or for more information.

- Critical Home Repairs for Veterans:
**5-6 REMAINING SPOTS OPEN FOR THIS PROGRAM**
Households in which a Veteran resides may be eligible for up to $15,000 of repairs, focusing on health and safety, structural improvements, energy efficiency, and accessibility improvements. Do not need to have DTE for utility service, but must be able to provide proof of ownership of home and be current with mortgage, home-owners insurance and property taxes. Please contact ruth@h4h.org with any questions or for more information.

A number of Tools are available to check the efficiency of your home, including a thermal leak detector, and this energy meter.
