My heart was beating too fast. Things you dream about are supposed to stay there and be gone once you woke up. But she was there in my room. The lights were off but I could feel her presence surrounding me. Choking me. Trying to get my guard down so she could strike. I could feel her thin white hands around my neck, her claws leaving scratches. My small hand tried to loosen her grip, but my hand slipped from the blood dripping from the places she had wounded me. She was going to take me and I wanted to scream so I opened my mouth but nothing came out and she was pulling me under and my vision was clouding over but then the door slammed open.

And it was him. A bright light that was too powerful for her darkness and she ran, not gone forever, but gone for now. And he held me. He never let me go. He's always by my side. And whenever she comes back, he's always right there. He cries as he stands up to her sometimes. Because some monsters leave scars on your heart.

Those scars don't ever fade away completely.
