Walter J. Long
MILAN - Walter J. Long, 72, of 260 Cottage St., in Pontiac, died yesterday afternoon at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in Pontiac.
He was a former resident of London township in Monroe county, and Manchester.
Mr. Long was born in Sumpter township, Wayne county, on Jan. 18, 1884, a son of James and Alice Howard Long. On Nov. 30, 1905, he was married to Annabelle Hansor in London township.
The couple lived in the Milan vicinity until 1943, and then moved to Manchester.
Mrs. Long died on April 2, 1953. On Jan. 12, 1954, Mr. Long married Esther Crittenden. The couple moved to Pontiac.
Mr. Long was employed by the Ford Motor Co. while living at Milan and Manchester. He retired in 1952.
He was a member of the First Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, three sons, Herbert of Tecumseh, Kenneth of Milan and Clifford J. of Lima, O; two daughters, Mrs. Harriet Cosner of Milan and Mrs. Margaret Harter of Brooklyn; and a step-daughter, Mrs. Naomi Green of Pontiac. Sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Stevens& Bush Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Haven of Davison officiating, assisted by the Rev. William M. Hughes.
Burial will be in London Cemetery.
