REV. ERNEST J. LEMON

Associate Minister Appointed

The Rev. Ernest Jack Lemon has been appointed the new associate minister at First United Methodist Church. He will officially join the staff to serve with the Rev. Dr. Donald B. Strobe, senior minister, and the Rev. Fred B. Maitland, on April 19.

Prior to the Ann Arbor appointment, the Rev. Mr. Lemon served for the past three years as associate minister at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Monroe. His responsibilities there were largely in the area of education which will be a major emphasis of his position at First Church.

The Rev. Mr. Lemon will work in the area of adult ministry, single and married young adult ministry, and parish development. He has special training in counseling techniques, and empathy and crisis intervention. While a student at Central Michigan University, he organized a coffeehouse called “The Dialogue,” and established a Crisis Intervention Center for the Mt. Pleasant community.

The Rev. Mr. Lemon received a BS degree in psychology from Central Michigan University and a master of divinity degree from Methodist Theological School, Delaware, Ohio in . 1973.

On the national level, the Rev. Mr. Lemon served on the Board of Missions of the United Methodist Church on a staff in the Upper Sand Mountain Parish, Rainsville, Alabama. He also worked for the Big Brother Association of Columbus, Ohio as a social worker.

The Rev. Mr. Lemon will be coming to Ann Arbor with his wife, Susan, and their two children; Christopher, 3, and Renee, 5 months.
