Steinke, Alfred 615 W. Huron St. and 5830 W. Ellsworth Rd. Ann Arbor
Age 65, passed away Sunday at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital from injuries received in an automobile accident. He was born February 21, 1908 in Benton Harbor, the son of William and Minna Ott Steinke. On July 11, 1933 he married Gladys Gray in Detroit; she survives. Mr. Steinke was a University of Michigan graduate and a life member of the “M” Club. He was a trainer, breeder and handler of beagles and was one of the founders of the Southern Michigan Beagle Club; he was a member of the Board of Directors and Secretary for 25 years. Mr. Steinke had articles published in professional beagle magazines. He was a member of the Golden Rule Lodge No. 159 F. & A.M.; Ann Arbor Chapter 16 R.A.M.; Ann Arbor Commandery No. 13 Knights of Templar; he was also a member of the Elk's Lodge No. 325 and the Zal Gaz Grotto, both of Ann Arbor. Survivors include: his wife; one daughter, Mrs. James (Carol) McNaughton; three grandchildren; and his mother, all of Ann Arbor. Services will be conducted by the Golden Rule Lodge at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline. Cremation will follow. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2:30 p.m. until the hour of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Heart Association.
