After 13 Years, Violinist Back As Orchestra Concertmaster
After a 13-year absence, Elizabeth A. H. Green is back in her familiar seat as concertmaster of the Ann Arbor Civic Symphony Orchestra. Having completed a year's sabbatical leave from her teaching duties in the University's School of Music, Miss Green is sitting at the left elbow of Conductor Emil A. Holz, who has begun his third season with the 75-member civic orchestra. The job of concertmaster with a symphony orchestra is vital, exacting and demanding. Few women take on the job. There are no women concertmasters in professional orchestras. If the conductor should break an arm or something, his concertmaster would take over.
