Mrs. Mary Smith, 96, died Sunday at the Ann Arbor Convalescent Hospital after a long illness.

She was born on July 28, 1856, in Bela-Mano, Ireland, a daughter of Gordon and Mary Craig Strahan. At the age of 10, she moved to Lenawee county, where she lived until moving to Ann Arbor 37 years ago.

She was a life member of the local Order of the Eastern Star, No. 122.

On Feb. 15, 1891, she was married to Charles H. Smith, who died Jan. 9. 1935.

Survivors include a nephew, George J. Smith of Ann Arbor, who they raised as a son; and one sister, Mrs. Emma Tabort of Deerfield.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Muehlig Chapel, the Rev. Henry Kuizenga officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Blissfield.
