Reflection

Brock, an eighth grader, sauntered home with a villainous sneer on his face. He almost laughed when he remembered the face of the sixth grader he had shoved to the ground and spat on. His train of thought, however, was interrupted by a yellow butterfly landing on his hand. Almost immediately, it fell to the ground: dead, withered, and black. As he walked, Brock noticed that every plant in his wake withered and died. Suddenly, he felt a stabbing pain on his leg. He looked down and saw a water moccasin attached to his ankle. He recognized the snake and knew it was poisonous, but nothing happened to him. He looked at the snake that bit him and noticed it was writhing–then, it just stopped. It was dead. He looked down at his bite but nothing was there, so he continued walking home when he caught his reflection in a muddy puddle on the path. He screamed at the hideous reflection staring back at him.
