Fruits Basket Discussion Thread

by Edith Wharton

Thank you to everyone who came to MC Otakon, it was fun! To sign up for the next program please check your copy of AXIS, because its late and I can't remember these things.

Please post your thoughts on the books, though try not to post spoilers, I'm going to make a separate thread for that.

Kanpai!

Good Morrow!
Just out of curiosity (and laziness; I could, quite probably, find the universal truth I seek through the performance of a Google search), what is/was/will be/will have been/etc. the MC Otakon referred to in the introduction to the Fruits Basket Discussion Thread? As I understand it, Fruits Basket has something or other to do with Manga or Anime; a comment regarding this was made within my hearing only yesterday.
Good Day!

"I'm hopeful. I know there is a lot of ambition in Washington, obviously. But I hope the ambitious realize that they are more likely to succeed with success as opposed to failure."

Otakon is an anime convention in Baltimore, but I think the MC stands for Michigan Center so I'm assuming this was an offshoot. I think it was mini-convention where they watched anime and had Manga/anime discussions.

Fruit Basket is a manga about some stuff involving guys that look more like girls then usual.

"Round up the usual suspects."

Thanks for the question, Pickwick. Fruits Basket is, as Sir D. says, a manga and an anime which does feature exceedingly pretty boys. And MC Otakon is.. where we are discussing the books.

MC just stands for Malletts Creek. Thinking I would be sneaky and try to endow my little manga discussion with some of the sparkle of that Baltimore convention, I chose to call it MC Otakon. MC was there so everyone knew it was at Malletts, not in Baltimore.

I am hoping to continue MC Otakon with other manga/anime series discussions after we finish the three Furuba programs this fall. I'm thinking Inu Yasha, but I could change my mind.

I swear something interesting will happen! I think I'll have to put up a new post to make it happen though...
