THEY CLIMAXED 103 BOUTS OF GLOVE ACTION: Jim Anderson, Flint open heavyweight, is shown above landing a stiff right to the jaw of Joe Lane of Monroe in the final bout of the Golden Glove finals last night at the Armory. Anderson won the decision in this fight and it climaxed the 1940 local Golden Gloves in which there were 103 bouts in four nights of fighting.

WON THREE BOUTS BY QUICK KNOCKOUTS: Tom Flake, University of Michigan student, is shown above just after he landed the knockout punch to Wilmore Yaw of Cassidy Lake in the novice light heavyweight finals last night of the local Golden Glove tournament. Flake broke all records by appearing in three bouts in the tournament and yet fought less than four rounds. He knocked out Yaw and Ronald Swegles of Plymouth in the first round and put I. Labunes of Monroe away in the second. He will be one of the Ann Arbor favorites in the state tournament to be held next week at Grand Rapids.
