A member of the Ann Arbor Bonsai Society readies a San Jose juniper for the spring show the group will hold this Sunday, May 28, from 1 to 4 pm at the U-M Matthaei Botanical Gardens, 1800 N. Dixboro Rd. For or more "small trees in a pot" - the translation of the Japanese word bonsai - will be exhibited by members. Most of the trees have been created from plant material gathered in fields or woods or from nursery stock, their growth and shape altered by pruning of branches and roots and by wiring. The show is open to the public; a small entrance fee will be charged.
