Help For Poor A new program designed to help the poor of Washtenaw County obtain furniture they might not otherwise have was initiated yesterday by the Washtenaw County Council of Churches. Walter Pinkus of 1818 Chandler (in background) watches as Donald Smith, (left), Vern Terpstra, (center), and Paul Yoder carry away one of the first pieces of furniture donated to the program. Persons with good used furniture may donate it by calling 663-5718 or 668-7391.

STOCKBRIDGE YOUTH HIGH IN FARM ACTIVITIES: Donald Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Beryl Smith, route 3, Stockbridge, was elected state treasurer of Michigan Future Farmers at the recent state F. F. A. convention in East Lansing, and he's really a practical farmer. He was planting potatoes when this picture was taken on the Smith farm.
