NEIGHBORS CO-OPERATE TO PLANT BIG ACREAGE: War Gardeners in the Maple Ridge, N. Arbena St. section of Ann Arbor have their gardens located on a five-acre tract of land running along Maple Ridge up to Huron St. Twenty-five gardens are growing in the field which is part of an estate handled by a Detroit firm. Gardeners and their young helpers shown above congregated around Awbery Whitfield (with spraygun) and talking over the potato bug situation are, left to right, Pattie Tilford, Nancy Whitfield, C. T. Walker, Bob Creal, Sally Whitfield, Shirley Mesnard (in striped sweater) Nancy Reganall, Mrs. C. O. Creal, Miss O. M. MacArthur and, (at Mr. Whitfield's right), Glen Reganall. This is the second year the tract has been used for neighborhood gardening.
