RISKEY WINS CITY BADMINTON TITLE: Earl Riskey of the Michigan intramural department, shown above executing an overhead smash, won the title in the men's open singles of the city badminton tournament Saturday night. He succeeds Earl Smith as city champion, the latter not defending his title this year. Other former winners of the crown include Ernie Smith, twin brother of Earl, Chris Mack and Eustace Fox. Riskey reached the finals in three divisions of the tournament which ended Saturday. It was one of the most interesting badminton tournaments ever held here, in that the competition was keen throughout.

"Miss Mary Ellen Lewis (left), former veteran Ann Arbor teacher, and Earl Riskey, former intramurals director at the university, were two of the many Ann Arborites who turned out last night to honor Nicholas Schreiber (center) at a farewell dinner. Schreiber, principal of Ann Arbor High School for 22 years before his retirement last June, leaves the city next month for Arizona, where he and his wife plan to make their home. Miss Lewis was a teacher and counselor in the Ann Arbor Public School for 38 years before her retirement in 1961. She worked with Schreiber at AAHS for many years."
