MINOR LARCENY ON A MAJOR SCALE: Manager Gerald Hoag of the Michigan Theater "tested" patrons' resistance to temptation in a light sort of way with a lobby display for a coming movie, "The Birds." He inserted an unlighted cigaret in the beak of the pasteboard bird and instructed an assistant to replace it as needed. Passersby on their way to the balcony helped themselves to 2 1/2 packs' worth in an afternoon.

FOR HIGHWAY SAFETY: This striking poster showing a smiling school girl in bright yellow frock, standing in the path of a speeding car, with the dark hand of death outstretched, has been placed on Stadium Blvd. at Barnard Heights by the Ann Arbor Association of Insurance Agents as a feature of the highway safety campaign. Inspecting the poster yesterday were, left to right: Joseph W. Mundus, Lyle Thayer, resident of the insurance agents, Julius Haarer, E. Haas, Walter W. Springer, Irwin Stoll, and Ward Peterson, all insurance men. Trooper Robert Angell of the Ypsialnti post of the state police, motorcycle Traffic Officer Conrad Miller and Acting Chief Norman E. Cook of the Ann Arbor police department, and Russell Bradly, secretary of the insurance agents.
