FOR THE BIRDS: Phil Marshall was the only boy to place first in Carpenter School's bird shelter building contest, judged yesterday. His wren house topped the entries in the fourth and fifth grade bird house division. Patricia Cowling (left), won first among fourth and fifth graders in the nesting or feeding shelves division. Among sixth graders, Karen Teare (center), won with her log cabin and Barbara Goodwin placed first with her big yellow feeding shelf. Judges were two industrial arts students at Michigan State Normal College.
