Whitmore Lake Merchant Passes Away Suddenly at Age of 58

Whitmore Lake, Sept. 16. - Milton S. Davenport, 58, Whitmore Lake merchant and clerk of Northfield township, died suddenly this morning at his home here.
He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Volney Davenport, and was born in Saline township, making his home throughout his life in Washtenaw county. He came to Whitmore Lake from Milan 22 years ago, and had since operated the M. S. Davenport Hardware store here.
Mr. Davenport was clerk of Northfield township and treasurer of the Whitmore Lake school board. He was a member of the Masonic lodge at Milan.
He is survived by the widow; a son, Dexter of Ann Arbor; two daughters, Mrs. Fred Fahrner of Ann Arbor and Miss Dorothy Davenport at home, three brothers, Oakley in California, Abe in Detroit and Marshall of York township; and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the residence, with burial in Forest Hill cemetery, Ann Arbor.
