Wrestling Squad Wins At New York

Nichols Scores Fall In 20-8 Victory

Michigan’s wrestling team turned home yesterday after successful eastern invasion. The Wolverine matmen took the measure of the New York A. C. in a dual meet Saturday night, 20 to 8, after defeating Penn State, 16 to 12.

Tom Weidig dropped a fall and Andy Sawyer was decisioned in the two lightest weights for the only matches lost to the New Yorkers.  Don Nichols of Michigan secured a fall over Charley Powers of New York.  The other bouts were won by decisions.  It was the third straight dual meet victory for Michigan.

121 pound- Cleveland Peterson, NYAC, defeated Tom Weidig, fall (cradle hold) 5:10

128 pound- Eddie Collins, NYAC, defeated Andrew Sawyer, Referee's decision.

136 pound class- James Mericka, Michigan, defeated Warren Bund, referee's decision.

145 pound- Harold Nichols, Michigan, defeated Alex Henry, referee's decision.

155 pound- Ralph Turner, Michigan, defeated Donald Taylor, referee's decision.

165 pound- Frank Morgan, Michigan, defeated Frank Gonzales, Referee's decision (overtime).

175 pound- Don Nichols, Michigan, defeated Charles Powers.  Fall, (top scissors and reverse half nelson) 6:11.

Heavyweight- Forrest Jordan, Michigan, defeated Gridley Barrows, Referee's decision.
