Inquest Ordered In Torch Murder
A coroner’s inquest into the baffling Manchester torch murder case will be held in Manchester Monday, Dr. Edwin C. Ganzhom, coroner, announced today.
Dr. Ganzhorn said that a six-man jury would be sworn in at the county jail tomorrow and the time for the inquest announced then. The inquest officially is designed to determine the cause of death and identify the victim.
Prosecutor George Meader said he had formally requested the inquest in a letter to Dr. Ganzhorn.
Seven days of investigation have developed no clues to the identity of the killer. Sheriff John L. Osborn said. The victim has been identified by the family as Miss Hazel Briggs, 38, of Detroit, who disappeared from Manchester April 10.
