Jury Drawn For Murder Inquest
Six Manchester men were sworn in today as a jury for a coroner's inquest to be held Monday in the Manchester torch murder of Miss Hazel Briggs, 38, Detroit.
The jurors are Edward Dressel-house, Hirma Logan, Frank Merrithew, Carl Schaible, John Gumpper, and Fred Kuhl. The inquest will begin at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon and will be held in the village council chambers in Manchester.
Miss Briggs’ burned body was found May 9 in a dump on the Ray Trolz farm a mile and a half west of Manchester on M-11.
Sheriff’s officers, state police, and the prosecutor’s office have been unable to find clues to the slayer’s identity in an investigation conducted since the finding of the body. A branch sheriff's office has been established in Manchester to facilitate operations.
