Death Comes To Albert Mann At Age Of 84 Years
Veteran Ann Arbor Druggist Retired From Business In 1938

Albert Mann, long an Ann Arbor druggist and a lifelong resident of the city, died this morning at his home, 408 W. Liberty St., following a long illness. He was 84 years old.
Mr. Mann, who was connected with varied drugstores here until his retirement in 1938, was born in Ann Arbor Oct. 7, 1857, the son of Emanuel and Anna Niethammer Mann, early Ann Arbor settlers.
He began his career as a druggist with the Mann Brothers store after being graduated from the University’s school of pharmacy with the class of 1880. He had earlier been graduated from Ann Arbor High School.
Following his work at the Mann Brothers store, Mr. Mann became associated with the Mann & Walker store, and later operated the Albert Mann drugstore on S. Main St. The 14 years prior to his retirement he spent as manager of the pharmacy department with Mack & Co.
Mr. Mann was married Feb. 11, 1891, to Miss Ida K. Binder, Ann Arbor. Mr. and Mrs. Mann celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Feb. 11, 1941.
The Ann Arbor druggist was a member of the Elks lodge.
Survivors include the widow, a son, Edwin A. Mann, Ann Arbor; a daughter, Mrs. Thomas Abrams, Dearborn, four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Muehlig funeral chapel at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon. Rev. E. C. Stellhorn will officiate and burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
