Mrs. Martin Jack, 35, of Dexter, died last night at St. Joseph's Mercy hospital of injuries following an accident yesterday in Dexter.
Mrs. Jack ran into the street to stop her 18-month-old daughter, Mary Ellen, who was running into the path of an automobile driven by Lt. Gov. Vernon J. Brown. She stumbled on the curb and fell into the car which was traveling between 10 and 15 miles an hour, according to witnesses.
Lt. Gov. and Mrs. Brown were on their way to Ann Arbor to attend the convention of the University of Michigan Press Club, when the accident occurred.
Both Mrs. Jack and the child were taken to St. Joseph's Mercy hospital and the child was released this morning.
