Mrs. Emma Galpin Douglas died last Saturday morning following a long illness. She was 78 years of age.
Born April 2, 1871 in Salem township, Mrs. Douglas was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl Minehart. She was married to Frank P. Galpin, who died March 28, 1935. In 1939 she married Malcolm Douglas, who died May 4, 1945.
Mrs. Douglas was a member of the Congregational church at Salem and she made her home at Whitmore Lake for a number of years. She had lived with her daughter, Mrs. Ralph Wilson of W. Seven Mile Rd. for many years prior to her death.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ralph Wilson of Northville and Mrs. Anna Keene of Royal Oak, two sons, Willard Galpin of Pleasant Ridge and Frank Galpin of Los Angeles; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Magle and Mrs. Anna Quackenbush, both of Ypsilanti; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Casterline Funeral Home, with Rev. Cora M. Rennell of South Lyon officiating. Burial took place a Oakview Cemetery, Royal Oak.
