The Difference A Year Makes
THE DIFFERENCE A YEAR MAKES: Almost exactly a year after their joint enlistment in the Air Force, these six boyhood friends are back in Ann Arbor on leave together. The difference a year's military training has wrought - at least in facial expressions - is visible in the youths' faces. They are pictured (top) just before they left for service Jan. 12, 1951, and, in the same order, as they look today. In the front row (left to right) are Ceilon R. Hill, jr., of 1305 Hutchins Ave.; Justin C. Oliver of Brighton; and Ronald J. Taylor of 322 Virginia Ave.; back row (left to right): Donald E. Johnson of 419 S. Main St.; John C. Frederick of 231 Buena Vista; and Robert K. Foster of 111 Longman Lane. All six were graduated from Ann Arbor High School in June, 1949.
