MRS. LAURA WROTEN
Woman Dies At 86 In Saline Hospital
Mrs. Laura A. Wroten, 86, died this morning at the Saline Convalescent Hospital after a long illness. She had lived at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harmon O. Johnson of 1123 Vesper Rd., for the past seven years.
Born Dec. 30, 1870, in Newman, Ill., she moved with her family as a child to Mt. Ayre, Ill., where she remained several years. She taught grade school in Mt. Ayre and in Ladd, Ill., for several years.
She was married Sept. 18, 1895, to Edward L. Wroten. Before his death in 1947 they lived for 45 years in Benton Harbor.
Mrs. Wroten was a member and a former chaplain of the Algonquin Chapter of the DAR of Benton Harbor and an associate member of the Sarah Caswell Angell chapter while in Ann Arbor.
Surviving besides Mrs. Johnson are two other daughters, Mrs. J.W. Richards of Benton Harbor and Mrs. E.T. DuByne of Napoleon, O.; six grandchildren, and a brother, A.E. McIntyre of Peru, Ill.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at the Florin Funeral Home in Benton Harbor, with the Rev. Howard Blanning, pastor-emeritus of the Congregational Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Benton Harbor.
